A federal court issued an injunction preventing the U.S. Department of Education from implementing the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) Plan and parts of other income-driven repayment (IDR) plans.

Edfinancial Updates

The U.S. Department of Education is notifying borrowers with loans in the SAVE forbearance that interest will begin accruing again starting August 1, 2025.

Special Assistance:

A borrower who has special needs and requires assistance navigating the total and permanent disability charge process simply needs to request assistance when he or she contacts Loan Discharge and Forgiveness Customer Support. A borrower can designate an individual or organization to assist with the TPD discharge process by completing and submitting the Applicant Representative Discharge form at StudentAid.gov.
