A federal court issued an injunction preventing the U.S. Department of Education from implementing the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) Plan and parts of other income-driven repayment (IDR) plans.
Government Shutdown: As of October 1, 2025, the Federal government has shut down. SAVE: The U.S. Department of Education is notifying borrowers with loans in the SAVE forbearance that interest will begin accruing again starting August 1, 2025.
